Jessie Auguste

Cyber Security Technician

Jessie's job title is Software Engineer at Cybsafe

What I do

I work for a cyber security company that focuses on the human aspect of cyber security. I work on empowering people to be as safe as they can be online, and I use the power of data and behavioural science to do that. Something I have been building recently is an interactive cyber security chat tool. It allows people to ask questions or seek advice on how to be secure online.

A little more about
my everyday role

What I love most about my job

I love how much learning is involved. For each stage I’ve been at, I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve been doing and I’m always searching for another skill that I can develop. There is still so much to learn and so much growth - I’m really enjoying it.

The best bits about working in a team

I work in a varied team which is great because we all have different strengths and weaknesses. I don’t have all the mathematics and computing understanding, but where I don’t have that, I do have a good understanding of a person’s behaviour and exactly what a customer would want. I think the biggest thing is communication skills and the willingness to collaborate, because nothing that’s delivered is ever done by one person, it’s all very much a team effort.

The most exciting thing I’ve achieved so far in my job

We have a ‘hack day’ once a month, when the engineering team has a go at hacking and building something, but we only have eight hours to do it. I managed to build a feature with another colleague that was so successful it was launched live to all of our clients. That was pretty satisfying!
