Welding Technician
Isaac's job title is Welder Fabricator at Hydram Engineering
I am part of a team that takes parts from the company’s machining and lasering sections to assemble them. We don’t tend to work on full objects – for some customers we do things like weld nuts and clips onto smaller pieces of metal, for others we make larger assemblies of multiple sub parts.

Every day I work with a variety of parts and every job is different. Some parts are really challenging to work with, while other tasks are more straightforward. But the variety really breaks up the day. Sometimes I need to work out the process I need to follow, while other times I can do it straight away.
There are 10 of us working on my shift. We all work independently and do our own jobs, but if someone has knowledge of the job you are doing, then they are always happy to show you the correct way of doing the job. I am lucky that I am part of a team that is very supportive - we all help each other.
I was awarded Apprentice of the Year, which was great! There was a presentation, and my name is on a shield here.
I'm really interested in underwater welding – I think it would be great to do that!
