The advice I'd give to
someone younger

Don’t try to think too far ahead. I had no idea I was going to be in animation. Do what you are passionate about, or drawn to, and things will work themselves out.

A little more about
my everyday role

The most exciting thing I’ve achieved so far in my job

I have something coming out soon with Black Dog which is for a new building in Tottenham Court Road. It is a room with five screens, so you get a 360 immersive experience and I’m doing the video to go in the space. I feel lucky that people come to me for my style and are open to hearing my ideas, so I feel very creatively free.

The skills I use the most

There is a lot of problem solving behind this job. As a technician I am really driven by process, and I love learning new software. I will think of an idea, I will assume it can be done and then work out a way to do it!

The next steps in my career journey

I don’t like to look forward too much, but the fun part is that you never know what job is going to hit next! I would love to do a short film and to do more 3D animation and effects.

Who I admire

I used to love a cartoon called Aeon Flux by Peter Chung, in the 1990’s. I didn’t see it as something I would do as my career, I just thought it would be a hobby or a pastime. I can’t believe I am now doing that as my job.
