About us

Our aim is to increase the understanding and consideration of technician roles – and the technical education pathways that lead to them – among 11-16 year olds, as well as their parents and teachers.

The Gatsby Charitable Foundation began its work championing technician careers in 2016 and has supported education projects since the 1980s. Gatsby believes that a strong technical education system can open up good career opportunities, such as many technician roles, for young people and adults, as well as driving economic performance.

With a dedicated team focused on education policy, Gatsby was founded by philanthropist and former Science Minister David Sainsbury. Gatsby’s current work is focused on technical education and career guidance.
