Taking Technicians Make it Happen to the Big Bang Fair 2019

Last week TMIH and our team of volunteers travelled to the Big Bang Fair at the NEC in Birmingham to talk to young people about how technicians make things happen - and we couldn't have had a better time!

Visitors had the chance to play their way through our stand games, to help them identify the skills you might need for a technician career. But most importantly, they had the chance to hear about what its like to be a technician first-hand thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who joined us.

We would like to give a huge thank you to the following Big Bang volunteers and their employers: Turning Point UK & Katherine; University of Sheffield & Helen; University of Nottingham & Denise; Nottingham Trent University & Matthew, Aaron, Kieran and Cat; University of Exeter & Sara; Ed, Rose Bruford College student; Cardiff University & Lawrence and finally the Science Museum & Paul.

Throughout the year TMiH attends three large events: New Scientist Live, World Skills UK Live and the Big Bang Fair. We are always looking to take as many technicians with us as possible, because we believe that the best people to talk about technicians are technicians themselves.

Any technician that volunteers with us at an event will get all their costs paid for by the campaign, and TMiH will also pay for professional membership body fees for a year.

If you think you would like to come along with us to one of our events then keep an eye on our newsletter, where we always do a call out, or drop us a line at makeithappen@technicians.org.uk
