Field Team Leader

By 2021, more than 3,000,000 smart meters will be installed across the UK to help families manage energy better.

Field team leader Brian is on hand to ensure his team gets the job done. “We fit new smart meters for customers so they can see how much gas and electricity they are using on a daily basis and have more control over their energy usage.”

After 15 years working in the water industry at service provider Amey, Brian fancied a change of scene.

“I really enjoyed working for Amey, they’re a great company, but I wanted to do something new, so when the opportunity came up to work on a new project, I jumped.”

Keen to build his skills and his career, Brian applied to work on a project to install millions of smart meters across the UK with Amey on behalf of major energy providers.

“I was sent on a management course and trained at the Amey Skill Centre. This helped to build my team-leading skills, and grow my engineering knowledge.”

Brian enjoys working with his team, who are also some of his closest friends. “As a Field Team Leader, I am on hand to ensure my team is working safely, in line with professional guidelines. It’s also a customer-facing role so I often meet new people. I really like having a laugh with my colleagues and love the fact that no two days are the same.”
