Unite becomes latest supporter of the Technician Commitment

Unite is the first union to join the Technician Commitment.

Unite works to create a society in which employers and employees work together to build successful businesses and safe, healthy working environments. It advocates for members who contribute to success to ensure they reap the rewards, respect and recognition they deserve.

Andy Murray, National Officer, Unite the Union said: “We are proud to become a supporter of the Technician Commitment. These roles have historically lacked opportunity but by working together we can ensure they have increased visibility, recognition and career development to unlock future innovation on a global scale.”

Dr Kelly Vere MBE, Programme Director, Technician Commitment said: “In becoming a supporter of the Technician Commitment, Unite joins notable organisations in higher education and research who have acknowledged their responsibility to uplift the role of technicians. They are key to growing our community, spreading this message and driving change in the sector and we look forward to working with them.”

As a new supporter, Unite will publish an action plan aligned to increasing the visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability of technicians across all disciplines in the UK and beyond.
