Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme latest international signatory of the Technician Commitment

The Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme (MLW) becomes the second international signatory to join the Technician Commitment.

Since beginning its global expansion earlier this year, the Technician Commitment warmly welcomes the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme to its network of 115+ higher education and research institute signatories. In signing the Commitment, MLW pledges to ensure the visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability of its 110 technical staff.

The MLW is situated in the largest hospital in Malawi, Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital. Since its establishment 28 years ago, it has grown to encompass 22 research groups focussing on 6 key research themes:

  1. Social Sciences
  2. Population Health
  3. Infection Biology
  4. Vaccines
  5. Clinical & Experimental Medicine
  6. Maternal, Neonatal & Child Health
