The Big Bang Fair is the UK’s largest STEM fair, attracting nearly 80,000 young people, teachers and parents from all over the UK for three days of inspiration at the NEC, Birmingham.
Technicians Make it Happen goes to the Fair every year, to champion the amazing work technicians are doing every day. But to really inspire people, we need you to come join us - no one speaks better about what technicians do than technicians themselves!
Our technician volunteers run hands-on STEM activities and talk to visitors about their career journey. If you join us, you’ll be part of a team of eight volunteers and TMiH staff, who will take you through a full briefing and be there to answer any questions you have about the day.
We are looking for volunteers on all three days of the Fair, but we do not recommend any one person volunteers for more than one day. The timings are:
Wednesday 22nd June – 9:30 to 15:30
Thursday 23rd June – 9:30 to 15:30
With an evening session for families, home educators and community groups from 16:00 to 20:00
Friday 24th June – 9:30 to 16:00
TMiH will cover your expenses for attending the event, including hotel rooms for anyone with a long travel journey. We also offer to pay for volunteers’ registration fees to a professional body for one year as a thank you.
To register for a day of volunteering click the sign up button which will take you to our events portal (the page may take a little while to load, but bear with it).
Once you’ve signed up, someone from the TMiH team will be in contact to confirm your attendance, organise travel and make sure you are fully prepared for the day. If you have any questions, or are an employer and would like to arrange for a few of your technicians to volunteer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
