But in many ways, 2020 has been the year of the technician. We’ve heard stories from all over the country in the media about how technicians are fighting covid-19 and keeping the country running smoothly – we think it’s safe to say more people than ever know how important technicians are.
Across the year we’ve been bringing you the stories of technicians working at the heart of the fight against covid-19. We’ve heard from technicians who are part of the complex process of testing, technicians making PPE and ventilators, technicians sequencing the covid-19 genome and finally technicians involved in creating the Oxford vaccine.
Away from the frontline of covid-19 science, we’ve heard some amazing stories, from university technicians volunteering their equipment and creating initiatives to help students, to theatre technicians who have helped turn rugby stadiums into hospitals.
And we can’t forget our technician stories from before the pandemic, including a Curatorial Technician at the London Transport Museum and two Agricultural Service Technicians.
We’ve loved learning about all of these stories, and we hope you’ve enjoyed hearing about them.
While we might not be able to tell you exactly what next year will look like for TMiH, you can be sure that wherever there are technician stories to be heard – we’ll bring them to you!
